About Adam Svahn
I am a multi-disciplinary researcher and analyst with experience and success in basic research, clinical research and more recently public health pathogen bioinformatics. I completed a PhD in developmental neuroscience at the Brain and Mind Centre at USyd using transgenics and advanced live microscopy to study microglia. After this, I continued as a post-doc at the MND research centre at Macquarie Uni, adding human genomics into the mix with transgenics and microscopy to study the causes of motor neuron disease. Alongside molecular biology and neuroscience, I trained in programming and computer science and as such I have strong capabilities for bioinformatics, statistical analysis and data visualisation. Since 2019, I have split my time between two projects. The first being understanding genomics through computer science at the USyd Centre for Complex Systems. The second within the Westmead Clinical School and CIDM-PH to apply novel network and machine learning methods to understand the genetic relationships between pathogenic bacteria.
