About Adam Warwick

I am a wildlife biologist, land manager, and NWCG Burn Boss (RXB2) for The Nature Conservancy Southern Blue Ridge Program. I oversee management for about acres of forests and rare natural communities in western North Carolina, lead a 22-person fire crew that helps bring fire back to the mountains, lead multiple Southern Blue Ridge Fire Learning Network Landscapes, and leader the Bog Learning Network. My strengths are inter-agency team leadership and partnership development, interpersonal communication, fundraising, public speaking, translational ecology and science delivery. My first job with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission provided invaluable experience. I spent several years helping restore red-cockaded woodpecker populations to Tate's Hell State Forest and working with the Florida Forest Service to burn and manage the Longleaf-Wiregrass habitats of northern Florida Today, my primary interest is using fire and silviculture to conserve native plants and wildlife of the Southern Appalachians, figuring out how we can perpetuate our remaining pine and oak woodlands and early successional communities. I investigate and share the latest research as well as the experiences of myself and others' to guide our forest management strategies and determine how best to mimic natural disturbance regimes.
