Barrister at Citadel Chambers, Birmingham Adam has over twenty years’ experience instructed by defence solicitors and prosecuting authorities. His practice extends across the Crown Courts of England & Wales and the Court of Appeal, Criminal Division where he appears frequently. He is a specialist in defending & prosecuting rape & serious sexual offending. His success is built on an understanding approach with lay clients, expert knowledge of law & procedure and meticulous & thorough preparation of every case appreciating that every case is important to his client however serious the charge. He builds relationships with his lay clients and instructing solicitors by taking time to listen, understanding what is important to them. Adam speaks in plain English and avoids jargon. Ensuring that his lay client understands the evidence and what will happen in court is key to his practice and the trust he is able to build. The empathy, understanding and patience he demonstrates in every case is valued by those he defends. His courtroom style is robust, measured and direct. Juries appreciate his plain speaking, focused approach and mastery of his brief. Adam is the head of the criminal team at Citadel Chambers and a member of its management and pupillage committees. He is a member of the Criminal Bar Association and the Midland Circuit of which he is a former Circuit Junior. Before his career as a criminal barrister, Adam worked in the European Parliament in Brussels & Strasbourg and for Van Bael & Bellis (Advocates) in Brussels. He regularly competes in marathons. He trains with the Birmingham Running, Athletics & Triathlon Club.
