About Adam Yitna

I graduated from George Mason University in May 2015, with a Bachelor’s degree in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences as a Global Affairs major with a double concentration in International Development and Global Governance. I am the son of two American Foreign Service Officers and had the opportunity to live and grow up overseas in 6 different countries including Jordan, Swaziland, Nigeria, Botswana, Kenya and Uganda. In the time that I spent overseas and the number of times my family moved from post to post I learned quickly to be adaptable to new environments and circumstances as well as embrace cultural diversity. While overseas I had the opportunity to work three significant summer internships. 1) Human Resources Office a the American Embassy in Nairobi Kenya (2011) as a clerical assistant.2) Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Abuja, Nigeria as an administrative assistant. 3) HIV/TB office of USAID in Abuja Nigeria (2013) as an operational assistant, where I applied aspects of my International Development concentration. My greatest professional accomplishment was my role among a team of other interns, members of the HIV/TB Office of USAID in Abuja Nigeria and members of other developmental organizations in discussions regarding ways to improve outdated and ineffective HIV/TB treatment tracking systems in several Nigerian States. Considering these tracking systems are paper- based, they have become inconsistent over time thus making it difficult to accurately track the correct status of thousands of individual HIV and TB cases.
