Background
About Adel Vogt
I grew up in Erie, Pennsylvania and went to school at the University of Oregon (in 2019) for two years and transferred to the University of New Orleans (in 2021) to pursue Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering. Growing up near Lake Erie, and with a family boat, I gained a love for learning about the marine industry, which developed into my desire to be a Naval Architect. I also have a love for color guard, in marching band, as I have participated in it since seventh grade. This interest led me to the opportunity to perform in the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl of 2020 while attending the University of Oregon. It was the experience of a lifetime! While at the University of Oregon, I studied Architecture, knowing that someday I might have the chance to design ships and other vessels. Little did I know, Naval Architecture was a specific field I could attain a degree in, and upon finding that out, I transferred to the University of New Orleans two years after starting my undergraduate career. I majored in Architecture and started minors in Sustainable Business and Entrepreneurship while at UO. This has led me to have extensive experience in AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, and drafting and modeling. At the University of New Orleans, I have been able to begin my Naval Architecture career as an undergrad. I have taken relevant courses in Naval Arch Labs (CAD), Hydrostatics & Stability, Fluid Mechanics, and Dynamics. While attending UNO, I started a desk and office assistant position with the Office of Residential Life at UNO in November of 2021. I was hired as a Resident Assistant in August of 2022 and also promoted to Senior Office Assistant around the same time. Finally, I was promoted to Senior Resident Assistant in January of 2023 and have been continuing in the position since. I also was hired off campus at TAI Engineers as a Naval Architect Intern in April of 2023. Here, I extended my skills in AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, and Hydrostatics while also gaining experience in alternative energy solutions, alternative fuels, and Maxsurf. This summer, I was hired off campus with LOOP LLC in Covington, LA as a Facilities Engineer Intern while maintaining my Senior Resident Assistant role. At LOOP LLC, I developed risk management, project management, and P & ID skills as well as expanded my knowledge for other engineering fields, as I am highly motivated to receive a Master's in Engineering Management after graduation. I also am serving as the president of the on-campus chapter of the Society of Woman Engineers for the 2024-2025 school year.
