About Adela Barcia

Adela's focus throughout her professional life has been on creating engaging frameworks for personal and social transformation. She has been a committed peace activist on a global level and in the interior worlds of the clients in her psychotherapy practice for over four decades. She works with individuals, couples, and groups, offers intensives and workshops, and participates in international dialogues and conferences, all related to bringing forth the best in our human spirit. Pre and Perinatal Psychology and Health has been Adela's most passionate specialty for over thirty years. She presents at international conferences and offers educational talks to the public on the importance of undisturbed and well-supported birth. Cutting-edge research shows that ongoing dispositions to reactivity or responsiveness are set in both our neurobiology and in our psyches in the earliest developmental phases. As a result, these experiences are foundational, influencing how we engage the world and others in terms of resiliency, adaptive capacity, and even a general inclination to respond with love rather than react from fear. Adela believes that integrating sound birth and attachment practices into the current cultural birth paradigm can have a positive effect within the powerful nations that have abandoned them and is a simple and readily available point of intervention. Viewing the climate crisis as a potential portal for global transformation, In her psychotherapy practice, Adela now works primarily with dedicated individuals who feel called to create necessary positive change in the world. To this end, she has designed short-term transformational processes that facilitate these leaders to bring their most empowered selves to their work. When one's inner ecology is balanced, mind/body/spirit, one can best inspire and influence others through clarity of vision, ideas, and lived example. Adela lives on Salt Spring Island in British Columbia, Canada.
