Peer expert in desprescribing of unnecessary antidepressants and other psychiatric drugs. Inventor of the field of withdrawalology. Having researched psychiatric drug tapering and withdrawal syndrome since 2004, I am also highly knowledgeable about polypharmacy and adverse reactions to psychiatric drugs. My 2021 paper "What I have learnt from helping thousands of people to taper off antidepressants and other psychotropic medications" has been viewed close to times. I have recently joined a venture, Outro Health, offering telemedicine services for medically guided tapering of psychiatric drugs. Under the Webonym Altostrata, I started a peer support Web site, SurvivingAntidepressants.org, in 2011 to offer patients and physicians basic tapering information and protocol recommendations for gradual tapering so as to minimize withdrawal symptoms from going off psychiatric drugs. As an established, well-respected resource, my Web site has been mentioned in many blogs, mass media articles, and articles in psychiatry publications. It has been the subject of several articles published in medical journals. To inform physician practice, I have collected longitudinal natural histories of psychiatric drug tapering and withdrawal syndrome.
