About Adele Owen

I’m the Greater Manchester Suicide Prevention & Bereavement Support Programme Manager in NHS Greater Manchester Integrated Care taking forward the city wide Suicide Prevention Strategy. I run the award winning Shining a Light on Suicide Campaign, our Real Time Suspected Suicide Surveillance Process and oversee the Greater Manchester Bereavement Service. I’m a Wellbeing Champion and a TRiM Practitioner. I was elected to the National Suicide Prevention Alliance Steering Group in 2022. I’m a Trustee for the charity Suicide & Co. Prior to this role, I had a 21 year policing career; my last role being as Force Tactical Mental Health Lead. After completing a Manchester Metropolitan University Research Fellowship (funded by the College of Policing) in 2015, I went on to form the first Mental Health Peer Support Network within UK Policing, the group receiving a Finalist award from the Marsh Trust for excellence in 2016. I was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 2016 to further study Peer Support in Policing in the USA & Norway. I was awarded two Chief Constable’s Commendations, a Fire Service Bravery Award & Royal Humane Society Award during my police career and the Queen’s Police Medal in the 2018 New Year’s Honours List for distinguished service.
