About Adele Spiers

I am a psychodynamically informed practitioner, passionate about human rights and empowerment through art and therapeutic support. I co-founded and run SOLA ARTS, a Liverpool arts and mental well-being charity. I have considerable experience in facilitating and developing arts and cultural programming, intercultural and trauma focused therapy and enabling shared understanding of culture and diversity through psychosocial activity and arts engagement. I am Clinical Lead at SOLA ARTS encompassing role as Senior Art Psychotherapist, overseeing Clinical Governance and therapy programming and providing Clinical Supervision. I lead on therapy projects which develop transcultural and pan-European Clinical and Peer Supervision models for Arts Therapists working with refugees and migrants and development of skills training for Pan-European approaches to Arts Therapies and CPD training. I am highly experienced working with PTSD, trauma focused therapy and intercultural and cross-cultural therapy. I am also experienced working with all ages and family or individual dynamics. I work with mental health difficulties such as historical trauma including childhood abuse, eating disorders, long-term illness, anxiety, Personality Disorders, Dissociative Disorders, Borderline Personality Disorder and Psychosis. My role as project Manager incorporates a range of areas including fundraising & reports, budgeting & finance, strategic development, arts skills mentoring/tutoring, professionals CPD training, volunteer training, Supervision, strategic and community development through the arts. I also support artists from refugee backgrounds to develop their careers and deliver psychosocial programmes for mental wellbeing. I Supervise a multi-disciplinary team of Psychotherapists, Social Worker, Mentors, Trainee Art Therapists and volunteers. Also work as an English Language and exams professional, with considerable experience in tutoring and consultation in the UK and overseas.
