About Adeline Chacko

Hello, My name is Adeline Chacko, and I am a second year student at York University. I am pursuing a degree in Honours Bachelor of Sociology. I strongly believe in the power of positive change and the impact that one person can have on society. I am deeply passionate about sustainability and committed to using my education and skills to create a better world, one that is just and sustainable. As a founder of SHE Rising, I have gained valuable experience in promoting girls' education and gender equality through free tutoring classes and virtual events. My participation in the Go Global SDGs in Action program funded by the Government of Canada and York University has given me hands-on experience in working towards the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, and I had the opportunity to collaborate with students and faculty from around the world. Representing my school in a global school program conducted by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UNSDG) has broadened my understanding of sustainable development and inspired me to continue advocating for sustainable practices. Finally, as a representative of UN Women India in the International Model United Nations Association, I developed my research and negotiation skills and gained experience in discussing global issues such as gender equality and education. Through my experiences with SHE Rising, a dynamic online community dedicated to promoting girls' education and gender equality, I have seen firsthand the transformative power of education. I am passionate about building a strong voice in girls and empowering them to take control of their lives and shape their own futures. In addition to education, I also recognize the importance of health and wellness in creating a more equitable society. I am committed to fighting against social constructs and injustice and advocating for positive change in society. My ultimate mission is to work in a global community dedicated to these goals. I am seeking internship opportunities to apply and enhance my knowledge of sustainability practices, with a particular focus on quality education and gender equality. By working in such a community, I believe that I can make a meaningful contribution to creating a more just and equitable world for all
