About Adil Shaik

I am a Postdoctoral Fellow at Queen's University, specializing in corrosion and materials engineering. My research currently focuses on evaluating the corrosion performance of carbon steel. I assess the stress corrosion cracking behaviour of 304L stainless steel in environments containing chlorine and hydrogen peroxide while also identifying key degradation mechanisms. Additionally, I am conducting a nanoscale chemical analysis of Alloy 800 in lead-containing environments. I earned my PhD in Mechanical and Materials Engineering from Queen's University, where I conducted detailed investigations into corrosion mechanisms of Zr-2.5Nb pressure tubes using advanced microscopy techniques. My Master's in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, involved synthesizing and characterizing nanomaterials for high-energy applications. Key competencies include materials characterization, mechanical testing, laboratory management, and technical writing. I have successfully published multiple papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals. I am dedicated to promoting sustainable solutions through innovative materials research and actively pursue collaborative opportunities with multidisciplinary teams to address complex engineering challenges.
