About Adonica Black

I am an experienced Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Executive with a legal background and a passion for fostering transformative change in organizations. My focus is on crafting comprehensive DEI strategies that promote inclusive cultures, enhance diverse talent pipelines, and drive measurable improvements in employee engagement and representation. Throughout my career, I've successfully developed global DEI frameworks, aligned D&I strategy with company values, and orchestrated initiatives that strengthen employee engagement and retention. My data-driven approach has resulted in increased diverse talent pipeline representation, development, hiring, and retention. Key achievements include a +3% increase in employee engagement of ethnically diverse talent and a +4% improvement in psychological safety scores. I am proud to have received numerous DEI-related awards, including Comparably Best Company for Global Culture and multiple Brandon Hall Gold Awards. I serve on the Duke University Board of Directors, where I lead the Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and founded the Duke University DC Alumni Women of Color Coalition to amplify the experiences of Women of Color within the university community. As the Director of Global Diversity and Inclusion at LexisNexis Legal & Professional, I continue to champion strategic DEI initiatives grounded in collaboration, data-driven insights, and a commitment to meaningful impact. In addition to my role as a Director, I also serve as the Board Member of the DEI Board, the Director of the LexisNexis African Ancestry Network, and the Director of the LexisNexis Rule of Law Foundation Fellowship. These positions allow me to leverage my expertise in international relations, finance, and marketing, which I gained from my Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University and my Juris Doctor from the George Washington University Law School. My mission is to foster inclusive cultures, unlock the full potential of talent, and create a positive social impact.
