About Adria Johnson

For more than three decades, I have dedicated my career to strengthening communities and expanding opportunity for children and families.I currently serve as President and Chief Executive Officer of Metro United Way, where I lead efforts to mobilize cross-sector partnerships, align philanthropic and public resources, and advance solutions that support thriving children, strong households, and an equitable community.Previously, I served as Commissioner of Kentucky’s Department for Community Based Services, the Commonwealth’s largest human services agency, where I led a workforce of more than 4,600 employees and oversaw a $1 billion operating budget supporting programs including SNAP, TANF, Medicaid eligibility, and child welfare services. Throughout my career, I have worked at the intersection of policy, philanthropy, and community leadership—advancing initiatives that address systemic barriers to opportunity and improve outcomes for vulnerable populations.I believe deeply in collaborative leadership and in the power of partnerships to create lasting change.
