About Adrian Bennett

As a former aerospace engineer, my broad area of expertise is in engineering and physics, having more specialist areas of knowledge and practical experience in fluid mechanics, engine design, control systems, aerodynamics, and aircraft and vehicle design. I remain a Chartered Engineer to this day with a keen interest in all things Space related. As a Chartered and European Patent Attorney, my clients are principally SMEs and large international corporations, with some being household names familiar to all. However, along with my team, I also advise start-up companies and individual inventors, and have developed a style for explaining complex legal concepts in a readily understood manner. I always take a commercially focused approach when working with clients, large or small, and develop strategies for protecting their intellectual property which balance client investment with the possible outcomes. In that respect, I have a huge amount of experience in the original drafting of patent applications and their successful prosecution through to patent grant in major global jurisdictions around the world. I also have some twenty years of experience in leading oral proceedings at the European Patent Office and I regularly handle these matters on behalf international and domestic clients. I have particular expertise in handling proceedings before the Opposition Division of the EPO and the Boards of Appeal, and clients seek me out specifically for my experience it that area of patent work. Other principal areas of work include advising clients in infringement matters, and in some instances this type of work is completed in the course of major due diligence assessments which precede business acquisitions by large corporate clients.
