Background
About Adrian Gorringe
As the Innovation and Inclusivity Lead at the Australian Injecting & Illicit Drug Users League (AIVL), I am at the forefront of fostering inclusivity and driving creativity within the organisation. My role is pivotal in promoting health equity and spearheading innovative developments to support and empower the communities, networks and services of and for people who use and inject drugs. I actively engage with stakeholders to create and implement initiatives that ensure all voices are heard and represented, enhancing community engagement and advancing the mission of AIVL. Ally & Advocate for the health and human rights of people who use and inject drugs, I have worked with a broad spectrum of communities on drug policy, trainings as well as projects aimed at reducing blood borne viruses, STIs, reducing stigma against people who use and inject drugs, and promoting harm reduction principles within a broad variety of landscapes. I have also worked on peer workforce development frameworks, support structures and training for the Harm Reduction and AOD workspace in addition to working in Needle Syringe Exchange Programs (NSPs) and was actively involved in the development of AIVLs National NSP Directory. I have a background in Public Health (Health Promotion) and Education with experience in primary health networks, AOD and Harm Reduction and Blood Borne Viruses and STIs. I have also worked as an educator and sessional academic in primary, secondary and tertiary settings with a focus on assisting students with learning difficulties, physical education, and teaching English as second and/or additional language.
