About Adrian Holman

I am a senior construction commercial and contracts director, consultant and testified expert witness with 31 years’ experience gained in the UAE (14 years), Saudi Arabia, the UK and Asia, initially in engineering and project management with main contractors such as Sir Robert McAlpine, Mowlem, Shimizu and Besix but more recently advising clients on cost, commercial and contractual matters and claims. I have held senior leadership roles with high levels of autonomy and full responsibility for P&L and am highly experienced and competent in team and project leadership, client and third-party relations, cost control and planning, procurement, report writing, claims management and dispute avoidance. My extensive experience enables me to think and operate effectively at a strategic level, while also having the capability to engage with and understand details when required. My expert witness specialism is the valuation of work done and variations, and the valuation of all types of quantum claims. I have produced expert reports for various dispute resolution forums on sectors including rail, solar, oil & gas, electricity transmission, high-rise residential and commercial and media buildings, and I have testified in arbitration and high court cases. I have worked on many large build-only, EPC and projects across many sectors including buildings, rail, oil & gas, infrastructure, utilities, and traditional and renewable energy. These projects have ranged up to US$ 3.3 billion in value, been based on numerous standard (e.g. FIDIC) and bespoke forms of contract, and involved single contractors, JV’s and consortia. I hold a BEng (Hons) degree in Civil Engineering (1994) and an LLM in Construction Law and Arbitration (2020). I am a member of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, an Associate Member of The Academy of Experts, am a RICS Nominated Expert Witness and am a member of the Society of Construction Law (UK & Gulf).
