About Adrian Matean

In the past years I focused in growing my leadership skills in different Software Engineering environments. My main scope is to have an optimized Software Delivery Management, focusing on leading teams, improving processes, finding the right balance between business needs and engineering excellence. Project delivery – I get my biggest satisfactions from successful deliveries of new products or features. It is motivating for me to align everybody on the same scope, reduce friction and waste, improve communication and advocate for agileness while keeping an eye on the cost. Team leadership and People Management – in the last months I've been a servant-leader for a department of 350 software engineers, collaborating cross locations for the success of a people software delivery department. Closer to delivering value, I led the delivery teams of up to 30 engineers with different skills. Had to find ways to better organize the teams, scale up when needed in a meaningful way, constantly monitor team health. Coaching individuals, especially leaders, is also a passion of mine. IT sector's biggest asset is people, so I focus on managing them, coaching individuals and growing leaders, Finding the best balance between "What" and "How" is overlooked by a lot of collaborations. There should be a constant conversation between Vision (Product Owners, Business Analysis) and Engineering (Engineering Managers, Software Developers, Testers). I believe a good leader with the right skills should find time to validate and influence the technical solution that addresses the needs on short to long term, work with different professionals in aligning the strategy.
