I am studying the world around me in mathematical terms. The aim is to understand, to describe and then to forecast processes beyond the reach of experimental methods. Currently, my main interest is focussed on: Multiscale mathematical analysis + multiscale modeling and simulation with applications on the effect of defects and other special internal structures on materials behavior (concrete, steel, paper); Multiscale modeling and simulations of interacting particle systems with applications to crowd dynamics, steel plasticity, and manufacturing systems; Asymptotic methods for PDEs; Measure-valued evolution equations.
