About Adrian Popa

Since 2002 i was involved in research and training regarding maritime structures. I have my PhD thesis in the field of naval structures (I studied the hydrodynamic effect on bulbous bows). This PhD Thesis was financed by Ministery of Education through a research project in the year 2008. I wrote 6 books and 64 articles with other authors and i was involved in 5 research project (one of them as manager) funded by several Governmental/European Agencies In the last 4 years in was involved in various position (up to project manager) on several industrial technical projects for important clients in industry, like: Ludwig Freitag (TAGU divion) van Oordt, Ørsted A/S (formerly DONG Energy), Royal Carribean, Carnival, OMV, and the list continue. Here are some of my projects: Gemeni OWF, October 2014 to April 2015. For Gemeni OWF on site support and different studies, like: Cable Laying Analysis, Cable Beaching Analysis, Cable Mooring Analysis, Cable Load out Analysis, Side wall presure Analysis, onsite consultancy in Oldenburg - august 2014 – December 2016 in the Bumi Armada SWB construction, making technical review notes for structural analysis and design and Warranty Surveyor for transport from Constanta to Azov Citty - December 2017 Inspection onboard SOURIA cargo, in order to measure exhaust gas levels (Nox, SO2, etc) for MARPOL certificate- August 2017 – present, involved in Petrom Rigs Offshore fire Protection System Project: Bridge Heat Pannels, bunds and drip trays upgrade. Among my responsabilities are: onsite inspection for units 3,6 and 7, structural analysis for bridges, redesigning bridges- January 2018, Borkum Riffgrund 2 Project, client: Orsted; I was involved in designing mooring spread and certification checks (tensions in mooring lines, redundancy check, etc) for unload operation in Cuxhaven - Structural and CFD studies in order to implement new scrubbers on board several ships (Equinox Class and Star Princess)
