I live in Malvern and have worked as an IT 'technical guru' for almost forty years now. The work I do embraces the complete realisation of business solutions that combine workable business processes and systems with appropriate data. My main focus is all aspects of information management, and on recent assignments I have found myself devoting considerable energy to analysing, re-organising and improving data. But I can do anything from troubleshooting to covering the complete lifecycle of solution delivery, where my deep understanding of delivery processes comes in useful time after time. For the last five years I have been working mainly on smart grid innovation projects, having played key roles in several major programmes. I am currently developing an innovative Master Data Management solution for asset information so the levels of quality smart grids will demand can more easily be achieved. Away from the office, my most active interests are gardening, railway signalling and photographing signalling and live music gigs. There's something uniquely relaxing about going home in summer and spending an hour going round the flower beds - it gets me close to Earth after a day embroiled in technology at the office! Though I have never worked for the railways, my grandad was a stationmaster on the old GWR so we were always a 'railway family'. I run a modest personal website under my nom-de-plume of 'Adrian the Rock' which features some of my older and recent signalling and gig photos. I'm also a fan of classic (melodic-style) rock music and similar genres, and my site also has a page devoted to those I enjoy most. Music meant so much to me over the years I wanted to give something back to the artists, most of whom are far less well remunerated that I am.
