About Adrian Simpson

I am a MPH candidate at the Boston University School of Public Health. I graduated from the University of Alabama in May 2021 with a major in public health and minor in public policy. While completing classes for my public policy minor, I learned that I feel strongly drawn to health disparities and specifically chronic and noncommunicable diseases in African-Americans. I feel that I am at my most efficient self when using my knowledge of the social determinants of health and my communication skills to help create and implement programs that will positively affect a community's health in the future.I am originally from Killen, Alabama in a Health Professional Shortage Area and have always found myself drawn towards helping others. In college, I served as a Resident Advisor for two years, only to be cut short by the Covid-19 pandemic. I have also spent all four of my years volunteering with the Gorgas House Museum as a student docent. My education and activities at the University of Alabama have helped to prepare me for a lifelong career of aiding others, and I hope to further prepare myself with my time at BUSPH.
