About Adrian Vanderspuy

Adrian Vanderspuy has over 35 years of experience in investing in financial markets. With a degree in finance from the University of New England in Australia, he moved to the UK to begin his career with Smith New Court in London. Living in Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and London, Adrian ran Merill Lynch's Equity Trading for the Asian, European, Middle Eastern and African markets. Afterwards, managing a macro themed hedge fund based in London. He currently manages investments from his home in Switzerland. With a family history in mining, Adrian has invested in mining projects in both Australia and Southern Africa, particularly in the Gold and Platinum sectors. A reconnection in 2001 with Stellenbosch, where he was born, resulted in him founding Oldenburg Vineyards. An opportunity to follow a passion for wine and pursue his belief in the potential for South African wines on the world stage. A belief in nurturing children's education led to an investment in FLEXA, a Danish producer of children's furniture. Coupled with this, Oldenburg and FLEXA pursue paths that improve children's lives. Adrian has a passion for working with nature and, as an artist, feels that nature can provide an exciting canvas to express oneself.
