About Adriana Morrell
Agriculture Sciences Faculty and Scientific Lead of the Mycology Laboratory at Lethbridge College. I was born in Cuba and obtained my BSc and MSc degrees at the University of Havana, where I worked as Plant Physiology instructor 2006-2009. I came to Canada to develop my PhD research at the University of Saskatchewan in collaboration with Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in 2010. My doctoral research examined the effects of sequence and frequency of crops in pulse-wheat based rotation systems and their influence on fungal diversity, microbial community structure, and crop performance. I became instructor at Lethbridge College in 2015. I created the Mycology Lab at Lethbridge College in 2022, with a focus on beneficial, medicinal and gourmet fungi with the support of a CARIF grant. My set of skills include Soil science and technology, Environmental science, Agronomy, Sustainable agriculture, Plant physiology, Mycology, Microbiology, Experimental Design, Database Management and Molecular biology.
