About Adrish Banerjee

I am a Civil Engineer-turned-Public Policy Practitioner, with a deep passion for Public Policy, Politics and Political Economy while working for Samaaj, Sarkaar and Bazaar to create an Impact for India, Indians and India-nization. Hailing from Asansol, WB, the 2nd largest Urban Agglomeration in the state, I graduated as a Civil Engineer in 2015 from the Kanad Institute of Engineering and Management (KIEM), Mankar, near Durgapur, WB. I prepared for the prestigious UPSC Civil Service Examination and West Bengal Civil Service Examination along with Banking and Insurance Service examinations. The year 2019 was a breakthrough moment when I qualified for the IBPS PO Prelims exam but failed to clear its Mains level overall cut-off just by 1 mark. I started my professional journey with Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance in 2019 in its Agency/Partner vertical as a Life Insurance Advisor taking up the challenge of selling Insurance products, which is considered a 'push product' in India and subsequently, recruiting to build my Team that could work on the same. Later, I joined upGrad Education in the role of Associate - Placement Operations, looking after the placements of Data Science and Data Engineering learners. During my probation of 3 months, I delivered the highest number of Placements in One Day. This helped the whole team achieve the Quarterly target of that year. I joined the Indian School of Public Policy (ISPP) with the aim of serving my country, along with the hope of creating Impactful policy changes in the lives of the 1.4 billion people by learning Public Policy. Here, I learnt Statistics, Critical Thinking, Design Thinking, Economics - Micro, Macro and Behavioural (Nudge theory), Game Theory, Markets for Development, Business and Government, Development Policy, Global trade and Strategy, Public Finance, Law and Economics, and Politics of Public Policy with the domains - Infrastructure, Urbanisation, Technology and National Security. I was the Founding President of the newly formed ISPP Sports Club, which kickstarted the sole sport of Badminton on the Campus and conducted Bowling Evenings for the cohort. I am the first Scholar in my cohort - Class of 2023 to get placed which kickstarted the Placement Season of the year.
