About Adwait Joshi

I am a planner who bridges global lived experience with technical expertise. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand how cities can create opportunities and exacerbate inequality. These experiences motivated me to take action, combining human-centered engagement with technical rigor in architecture, spatial analysis, economics, and infrastructure finance to advance development that is equitable, sustainable, and resilient. To deepen my skills, I pursued a Master’s degree in Regional Planning, Infrastructure Policy, and Finance at Cornell. I combined fieldwork with research on financing tools, such as land value capture. Along the way, I have worked in architecture, supported planning research, and helped guide future planners through mentoring and admissions outreach. Later, working in Nairobi’s informal settlements, I learned how powerful community-driven solutions can be. I spent time with residents, listening to their experiences and working on projects that improved housing and infrastructure. Through these conversations, I understood that planning is just technical, but most importantly, it is personal, and it must start with people. Today, I focus on connecting finance, policy, and community engagement to build inclusive and resilient cities. I want my work to support investments that create access, stability, and opportunity for all residents. I am always open to conversations with others working toward better urban futures.
