About Ahmad Fathi

Fathi’s current role is Senior Manager, Commercial Excellence, PETRONAS Masela, an integrated Upstream, LNG and CCS project in Indonesia. His role is to lead and drive Upstream commercial and LNG marketing of the project. Prior to this, his role was to grow and maximize PETRONAS’ LNG business globally. Fathi began his career with PETRONAS in August 2009, bringing over 15 years of integrated Upstream and LNG commercial experience, leading Upstream and LNG growth strategies, business development, commercial negotiation, managing Profit & Loss of an integrated upstream to LNG operations, building and fostering stakeholders' relation with host governments and partners. He also led several projects from technical framing until project FID. He started his career in PETRONAS Carigali Business Development, as Executive Business Development Middle East and central Asia. In June 2012 until March 2016, he has dual roles to support PCISB (Tehran Branch) in Tehran, Iran as Manager. In October 2013, he was reassigned to PCIHBV as Executive Stakeholders Management until Jan 2015. In February 2015 he was assigned to Senior Executive New Ventures (Africa), Upstream Business until March 2016. In April 2016, Fathi has been promoted to Manager, Asset Optimization, Operation Assurance LNG Assets until March 2018. In January 2017, he has dual role as Executive Assistant to Vice President LNG Assets until March 2018. He then transferred to PICL (Egypt), LNG Assets, as Head Commercial until December 2021. Throughout the years, he had been entrusted to lead several commercial negotiations and secure winning deal for PETRONAS, including recovery of stranded receivables from National Iranian Oil Company, resolved tax dispute with Assaluyeh tax authority, secure LNG Shortfall Penalty waivers 2019-2026 from TotalEnergies & Shell, EGAS agreement to cease gas diversion, improved LNG prices with TotalEnergies & Shell, West Delta Deep Marine Concession Agreement relinquishment key principles with EGPC and few Joint Bid Agreements with partners for various bid rounds in Middle East. Fathi graduated with Bachelor Degree in Economics from International Islamic University Malaysia, received 6 Deans Awards and Best Student Award from Faculty of Economic and Management Science.
