Background
About Aidan Hampson
I am a highly experienced pharmacologist with a demonstrated record of continuous innovation. I have worked in Industry (8y) academia (8y) and on drug translation-projects in Federal service for 15y. My expertise ranges from receptor signaling to ADME and pharmacokinetics, with clinical trial design and management also being strong regular experiences. For 13 years I have been involved in developing treatments of substance use disorders. For 4y I have been the Lead Investigator on a drug development project aimed to treat opioid use disorder (OUD), a project currently in GLP-Tox, and IND development. I am a key player in a highly innovative opioid overdose medication research project (completed POC, IP filing stage). I was part of the team who innovated a novel phase1 drug interaction study that was key in FDA approval of Lucemyra™. I co-developed a research device (SREC) designed to remove barriers to clinical e-cigarette research and I innovated and developed an adherence marker for phase 2 clinical efficacy trials. I was lead Inventor on US Patent:#6630507: “Cannabidiol as a Neuroprotective Antioxidant”. I am an advisor on Cannabis Science to government, regulatory organizations and not-for profit organizations. In addition I play key roles in response to mitigate the fentanyl/xylazine / opioid overdose crisis and I have expertise in the challenges and opportunities posed by psychedelic drugs as potential therapeutics. In addition I manage a multimillion dollar NIDA clinical trial grant portfolio aiming to treat cannabis and opioid use disorders. I trained as Pharmacologist at UC San Francisco, and in the lab of Nobel Laureate, Dr Julius Axelrod (National Institute of Mental Health).
