Background

About Aidan Straw

I worked at Jewson’s for 5 years of which 3 of those was as yard supervisor. In that time, I have led a team of operatives, overseeing the management of stock and deliveries, ensuring that our customers receive their orders on time and in full. Whilst ensuring all health and safety measures are set and followed, such as risk assessments reviewed, weekly racking checks, monthly equipment checks and SSOW reporting. I have implemented a rota system which has resulted in the operations running smoother and more efficient. As supervisor I have also covered other areas including covering assistant branch manager duties such as stock checks/discrepancies daily as well as the transport manager duties including planning the routes and delivery schedules. Having worked and ran the yard at one of the biggest branches with one of the biggest turnovers within the Jewson group, I have come across many challenges in my time at Jewson’s and I have adapted to the scenarios and overcome anything that has been thrown my way. I have received a dedicated achiever award which recognised me eliminating errors and working efficiently to meet tight deadlines. I can work well in a team as well as individually and not fazed by solving any operational problems that may occur. I am a fast learner and I’m always willing to learn new roles outside of my job specification.
