About Aidan Thies

I am a linguist who is interested in working in AI development, AI policy, linguistic annotation, and research. My interests regarding AI policy, I am interested in ensuring that AI development remains in service to the human behind the prompt and allows for fruitful human flourishing. For linguistics, I am interested in interfacing technological advancement with natural language data, language education, historical linguistics, ancient languages, and language theory. I have developed strong analytical skills and am comfortable analyzing abstract data. Through my experience, I have developed my ability to communicate effectively with very diverse groups of people. Outside of my professional interests, I am a multi-instrumentalist with proficiency in double bass, guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, keyboards, and synthesizers. I enjoy music theory, digital and analog recording, and music production. For much of my life, I have played in bands, in which I was also a main songwriter.
