Background
About Aiden Gillis
I strongly believe in cultural revitalization through the arts – artists as historians. The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is a platform where I can do the work that inspires me within Kjipuktuk for my community. When Indigenous artists are supported, our visibility within Halifax is strengthened through exhibitions and public programming, especially in growing partnerships. The presence & implementation of our worldviews comes into conversation within a space where people come to think, experience and learn. I’m a Visual Artist with a demonstrated history of working in the museums and institutions industry. Skilled in collaborative working, public speaking, facilitation, painting, and problem solving. Specializing in the field of arts and design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts: a focus in painting with a minor in Art History from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (Spring, 2017).
