Background
About Aileen Lambert
In the first chapter of my career, I worked in the non-profit Off-Broadway and regional theatre industry as an executive assistant, producer, and literary manager. Through my time in theatre, I came to value creative and bold risk taking, a commitment to excellence, and the ways storytelling can inspire others to greatness. As an assistant to the artistic director, I developed grit and resilience, an impervious attention to detail, a knack at prioritizing and problem solving on a moment's notice, and the ability to maintain grace and composure through it all. As a literary manager, I learned how to read and listen closely, communicate clearly and succinctly (verbally and in writing), and tell an effective story. And in my experiences as a producer in both roles, I honed the attention to detail and sense of ownership necessary to execute enormous projects and the respect and confidence to engage with high-profile celebrities and emerging theatremakers alike. In the Drama Division at The Juilliard School, I further developed skills in copywriting and editing and managing internal and external communications. Meanwhile, I was volunteering with The Trevor Project, where I practiced counseling skills and crisis intervention and deescalation services for LGBTQIA+ youth. After more than six years in the energetic theatre world, I brought skills in relationship building, community engagement, creative thinking, and conversation facilitation to the University of Mississippi as the Coordinator of LGBTQIA+ Programs and Initiatives, a unique role focused on centering and supporting the concerns and needs of LGBTQIA+ students, staff, and faculty at a Southern flagship university.
