About Aileen McCarthy

As Development Manager at Baboró International Arts Festival for Children, I lead on all aspects of fundraising and strategic partnerships, driving the organisation’s mission to ensure that every child—regardless of their background—can access and participate in the arts. My work spans trust and foundation funding, corporate sponsorships, individual giving, and philanthropic partnerships, with a strong emphasis on inclusion, creativity, and community impact. With over 15 years of experience as a chartered accountant, I bring a solid financial and strategic foundation to my role. I’ve worked across a range of sectors—pharmaceuticals, technology, manufacturing, and more—both in Ireland and the UK. My background in financial reporting, audit, reconciliation, and internal controls has been invaluable in supporting the long-term sustainability of Baboró, allowing me to combine rigorous financial oversight with a passion for arts and social impact. My transition into the creative sector reflects a long-held belief in the power of the arts to transform lives—especially young lives. I hold a Master of Arts in Writing from the University of Galway and completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Creative Arts Management in June 2024. In 2023, I participated in the Galway International Arts Festival's Selected programme, gaining deeper insight into contemporary arts practice and connecting with peers and mentors across the sector. I’m deeply motivated by Baboró’s mission and the knowledge that my work helps remove barriers to access, enabling more children—especially those from disadvantaged and marginalised communities—to experience the joy and possibility of the arts. I thrive in values-led, collaborative environments and take pride in nurturing relationships that are both impactful and enduring.
