About Aileen Ohare

I am a senior clinical pharmacist with over 20 years experience working in acute London NHS teaching hospitals and ALBs. My recent experience encompasses a broad range of clinical pharmacy skills including leadership, management, specialist inspection, assurance, regulation, financial reporting, horizon scanning, guidelines & formulary development, governance & risk management, medicines management and medicines optimisation, education & training, audit & research skills, specialist clinical knowledge in W&C services, divisional management, outsourced pharmacy capacity planning, homecare, CCG and NHS commissioning, recruitment and the development of successful NHSE and internal staffing business cases. Over recent years I have developed a working knowledge of Sustainability & Transformation Partnerships(STPs) and Integrated Care Systems (ICSs) including the integration of different pharmacy sectors across systems and PCN pharmacy roles. I developed ICS metrics & a dashboard to measure all aspects of ICS including leadership,workforce, medication safety, antimicrobial stewardship, medicines optimisation, drug expenditure reporting and best value medicines. I have supported the development of an ICS assurance framework for PCN pharmacists and considered the use of data in relation to system wide population health needs and a centralised approach to medicines optimisation. I co-led and tracked an tertiary provider trust wide drug expenditure programme supporting cross cutting projects, biosimilar & generic switches and developed cost avoidance strategies across a number of specialist services. I have significant managerial experience through leadership of clinical pharmacy teams and by supporting team leaders in relation to drug expenditure reporting and cost improvement plan delivery. I have deputised for the Deputy Chief Pharmacist (clinical pharmacy) and managed a team of over 10 highly specialist clinical pharmacy team leaders. I have extensive experience in clinical, financial and managerial multidisciplinary team working and forged links with key stakeholders such as divisional heads of nursing, medical directors, divisional risk, & governance leads, general managers, finance teams and other key stakeholders in the PMO office. During recent employment in a clinical informatics role I provided input to Model Hospital and NHS benchmarking initiatives. I suggested methods to optimise efficiencies through medical gas reviews, homecare services, outsourced pharmacy reviews, procurement tenders, stock management and stock holding.
