About Aimable Uwizeye

I am passionate about advancing sustainable livestock development, animal health, and the environmental performance of livestock systems in the context of global change. My work bridges science, policy, and implementation—delivering transformative solutions for climate-resilient livestock systems worldwide. As Livestock Policy Officer at FAO, I lead the Livestock, Environment, and Climate Cluster, managing global initiatives and multidisciplinary teams to scale up climate action in the livestock sector. I support countries in strengthening Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), integrating livestock-related climate commitments into national policies, and reducing methane emissions. I also lead FAO’s efforts on sustainable nitrogen management in agrifood systems, with a focus on livestock. My work includes enhancing GHG inventories, building technical capacity, mobilizing climate finance, and developing guidance for carbon markets. I am a self-motivated, inquisitive, and enthusiastic leader who inspires teams, drives innovation, and thrives in multicultural environments.
