Background
About Aimee Merrydew
How can creativity, playful learning, and collaborative annotation technology promote inclusive academic and information development and nurture curiosity among learners in higher education? These questions guide my work at Keele University, where I'm responsible for the centrally organised academic and digital skills portfolio and lead a team of tutors to provide university-wide seminars, coaching sessions, and digital learning resources for over 12,500 students.I previously taught in the School of English (2017–21) and worked as a faculty-linked Curriculum Developer (2021–23) where I facilitated academic development and specialised in student success by leading the University's undergraduate research initiatives.I've collaborated with academics and educational professionals across the UK HE sector on national pedagogical research projects. I shared my expertise in several open access publications including The Pandemic Pedagogy Handbook and a book chapter on Active Assessment Literacy. My interest in creativity and playful learning was sparked by my funded PhD research on the pedagogical potential of collage methods in feminist experimental poetry.
