Background
About Aimee Witteman
Aimee is a nonprofit strategist with over two decades of experience designing and leading policy campaigns and grantmaking programming. Throughout her career, she has been drawn to public service and leading teams to carry out missions in the public good. She is nationally recognized for her multidimensional and collaborative approach, connecting people and ideas across sectors and disciplines, and acting as a trusted thought partner to CEOs, elected and appointed officials, and philanthropists. Aimee currently serves as Chief Impact Officer at the Urban Land Institute, the oldest and largest multidisciplinary network of developers, architects, investors, and urban planners focused on transforming the built environment. She oversees ULI’s centers, initiatives, and advisory services with particular focus on decarbonization, climate resilience, and housing affordability. Aimee has extensive experience designing and leading clean energy grantmaking programs for leading climate philanthropies, including senior program roles at the McKnight Foundation, Climate Imperative Foundation, the Energy Foundation, and Invest in Our Future. She has built and managed grantmaking portfolios aimed at clean energy solutions, between $16-$180 million, annually. Aimee previously served as an appointee in the Biden Administration at the Department of Energy helping design, pass, and implement the historic Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act. She served as Vice President of Network at Rewiring America, during which the team focused on leveraging the Inflation Reduction Act programs to electrify single family homes. She also served as executive director for the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition where she helped secure conservation and rural development programs in the 2008 Farm Bill. An avid outdoor adventurer, her early years included leading backcountry canoe, mountaineering, and dogsledding trips and swinging a post hole digger in the Pacific Northwest.
