About Aj Monk
I am a Bachelor’s of Kinesiology graduate, Governor General Silver Medal Award recipient, and strong advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI). During my undergraduate degree, I co-led a Mitacs funded research project on sustainable forestry in the Howe Sound Region. This research position solidified my passion for research processes, and, after graduation, I received the Research Grants Officer position at Capilano University. In my role as Research Grants Officer, I develop and administer several internal grants, assist faculty during both the pre- and post-award stages, and collaborate with departments like Finance and HR to manage grants and hire student research assistants. Additionally, I serve as the administrative lead for the Research Ethics Board (REB). In addition to my full-time position at CapU, I have served as a personal trainer and group fitness coach for the last 10 years, training individuals from diverse backgrounds. In my free time you can find me hiking out in the forest or hanging at home with my partner and our two cats!
