My name is Aja Payton and writing is my passion! I am a highly-driven screenwriter dedicated to crafting stories, both comedic and dramatic, that aim to uplift the voices of women, POC, LGBTQ+ folx, and other disenfranchised individuals, shining a light on their experiences through complex characters and stories of truth. My greatest strength is in developing ideas and crafting them into complete and concise stories from start to finish, primarily within the screenplay format. I work individually or on teams to ensure a story is being told in the best possible way. As a recent graduate from Southern Methodist University, I have learned crucial skills such as- How to brainstorm a variety of ideas - Composing, editing, and refining drafts - Taking constructive criticism and adequately apply it - Discerning which ideas would work well for certain formats - Utilizing creative discipline - Developing my own personal writing routine that is consistent and effective - Pitching my ideas clearly and concisely Writing for film has brought me a great joy for as long as I can remember and I hope I will be able to afford you the same joy through my work!
