Experienced in cancer drug discovery, drug resistance mechanisms and biomarker development. Working on the regulation of human DNA-topoisomerase I in the response to its inhibitors- discovered the resistance pathways for this class of drug. Identified, a crosstalk between deregulated kinase cascade and UPP mediated proteasomal degradation lies at the core of drug resistance for topoI inhibitors. The molecular determinants of the pathway was used to develop and validated an IHC based predictive biomarker. The pathway has also provided multiple potential drug targets to overcome drug resistance. Over two decades of our work has the potential to help the patients in clinical oncology to select the right therapy.
