About Ajitkumar Sudke

I am a public health expert trained as a clinician in pediatrics and neonatology with an experience nearing two decades. I have been involved in programmatic strategy development, implementation, monitoring and management of community and facility-based programs in public health with focus on health systems strengthening, RMNCH+A services including immunization and cold chain, Quality Improvement initiatives and leveraging health technology. I had the opportunity to work as a primary care physician in a Primary Health Center, as a clinician in a the District Women’s and Children’s Hospital and as a national trainer in maternal and child health programs. My public health journey commenced in UNICEF which works for child rights and survival spanning over seven years in different roles across diverse geographies in India. I started as a district Reproductive and Child Health Consultant in Warangal, followed as a State Child health consultant for Andhra Pradesh, then moved to UNICEF Patna Field Office, Bihar as a Health Officer (NOB) and finally became a Health Specialist (NOC) in UNICEF Guwahati Field Office, Assam. Having worked at state level in multiple states, I moved to one of the world’s largest philanthropic organization – the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to lead the Maternal, Newborn and Child Health portfolio for India country office based in Delhi. In ACCESS Health International, India I led one of the largest Newborn Quality Improvement Collaborative in India –“The Safe Care Saving Lives Program” implemented across two States – AP and Telangana and funded by Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF). As Senior Vice President, Clinical Domain in Piramal Swasthya Management and Research Institute, one of India’s largest not for profit organization working across 21 states in India I led a team of clinicians, public health specialists, and epidemiologist providing technical support to large scale operations including community outreach programs, telemedicine and health advice through health information helplines. I feel extremely proud for having played a leading role in Swasthya receiving its first international award on the sidelines of the UNGA. Having worked at all levels of the health system, inside and outside the Government system, being involved in direct service delivery and large-scale program implementation and involved in grant making in a donor organization, I bring first-hand knowledge, experience and expertise in understanding the complexities and nuances in the development sector.
