Background
About Ajmal Aqtash
Ajmal Aqtash had served as the Director of Advanced Technologies at Boyce Technologies Inc. With his strategic design and innovation background, Ajmal was brought in to assess the company's current and future growth needs in advanced manufacturing, specifically related to robotics. During the course of two years, Ajmal established a robotics program, by specifying and integrating the industrial robots, configuring the robots onto the manufacturing floor, and building the team responsible for operating the industrial robots. Additionally, he launched the Plastics Division, with a focus on integrating Additive Manufacturing, Thermo-forming and Injection Molding applications to produce innovative solutions in product development, prototyping, and end-use production parts. This newly formed Advanced Technological infrastructure, provided a rapid prototyping space to produce innovative solutions for the R&D team and to better serve the clients performance criteria and demanding project schedules. In addition, Ajmal is currently an Adjunct Professor at Pratt Institute, School of Architecture, and also serves as the Associate Director of the Center for Experimental Structures. As an educator and researcher within the center, Ajmal works on projects that not only allow him to build better structures, but to experiment, explore and envision new inventions, radical redesigns, and the building blocks for a more sustainable future. With this strategic design approach, Ajmal continues to focus on developing next generation products for potential uses in Ag-Tech, Clean-Tech & Bio-Tech. In 2015, Ajmal was awarded the Pratt Institute Innovation Seed Award, which provided funding to design and develop an Environmental Incubator-Simulator and an Omni-Directional-Wind Simulator. Ajmal sees advances in technology as opportunities to explore new territories, using an organic design approach to improving systems for everything from building natural structures to harnessing wind power.
