About Akarsh Wadhawan

Growing up the youngest of three I watched my parents work to provide for me and my siblings so that we would not feel we were lacking in anything. They would manage a business and at times talk about their goals of wanting to expand and grow. This impacted me growing up because I would want to see them grow and I would also want to improve on myself. I eventually took my first accounting course, I enjoyed working with numbers and seeing the movement of money within a business. Both of these experiences would shape and form my interest in accounting. In high school, I was the quiet kid who loved math and was generally introverted around my peers. My experience here at California State University, San Marcos has pushed me out of my comfort zone due to the heavy emphasis on group work. Working in groups has given me the confidence to take the lead in groups, where I have grown from group participant to group leader. I have also gotten involved with campus life and have held leadership positions in the Accounting Society and the MIS Society. While I have learned a lot in regard to accounting, I am happy to be growing more comfortable as a leader. I aim to acquire my CPA and develop my career in public accounting.
