As Group Credit Manager at the Independent Builders Merchant Group, I lead a team of 25 across multiple locations. I’m responsible for overseeing the efficient management of credit policies, cash flow, and risk mitigation across the business. My role includes managing customer account setups, reviewing credit limits, and liaising with credit insurers to ensure compliance with both internal policies and insurer requirements. I work closely with stakeholders across finance, sales, and operations to ensure the team processes payments, credit notes, and other ledger transactions on time, while improving collections and minimizing bad debts. A key part of my role is driving improvements in credit control processes. I focus on hitting KPIs like reducing overdue accounts and improving DSO. By leveraging data and technology, I ensure the credit management function supports the business’s growth and operational efficiency. I’m passionate about building strong cross-functional relationships and finding opportunities for continuous improvement in the team and the wider business. My goal is to contribute to the ongoing success of the group by fostering a culture of collaboration, driving process innovation, and ensuring effective risk management.
