About Akira Kirkpatrick

As a counseling intern at Reimagine Reentry, I support formerly incarcerated individuals in their reentry process, providing individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and referrals to community resources. I collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of social workers, case managers, and peer mentors to deliver holistic and trauma-informed care to our clients. I have also gained valuable experience as a counseling intern at Favored Wellness Counseling & Consulting, LLC, where I provide counseling services to adults with various mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance abuse. I am also a graduate student in the Master of Science in Counseling Psychology program at Robert Morris University, where I am pursuing my passion for helping people overcome their challenges and achieve their goals. I have completed courses in counseling theories, techniques, ethics, assessment, and research, and I am currently working on my thesis project on the impact of mindfulness-based interventions on anxiety and depression among college students.
