Akram Cassim is the Managing Director of Colombo Jewellery Stores, a leading Jeweller & Watch retailer in Sri Lanka founded in 1922 which is celebrating 'A Century of Style'. He is a 4th Generation Jeweller & Jewellery Designer and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Akram has been involved with Colombo Jewellery Stores (CJS) over the past 35 years, and has continued to grow the Brand following the founder’s principles of only selling faboulous gems and fashionable jewellery while never compromising on Quality. He has added international elegance to the CJS Brand by collaborating with International Celebrities.He has transformed CJS into a designer Jewellery Brand and has had Sri Lankan Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez as Colombo Jewellery Stores Brand Ambassador since 2010. He has made Colombo Jewellery Stores a retailer to the luxurious watch brands Hublot, Breitling & TAG Heuer. Akram who is passionate about Elephants launched in 2014 a unique jewellery campaign called ‘Unforgettable – A Future in the Wild aimed at saving Elephants in the Wild in Sri Lanka by creating awareness and taking action to minimize the Human Elephant conflict by Partnering with the Sri Lanka Wildlife Conservation Society (SLWCS). He has supported and sponsored ‘Sri Lankan Elephant 2016- a trilingual travelling and awareness and education program that was shown around the island organized by the Federation of Environmental Organizations. In 2019 partnered with the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society (WNPS), launching 125 limited edition elephant pendants for their 125th anniversary and donated 100% of the proceeds towards their elephant conservation work. Akram also partnered for Ocean Conservation with Dr Asha De Vos and her organisation Oceanswell in 2018 to support their Marine Conservation Efforts.In 2019 he created 50 limited edition Blue Sapphire Whale Pendants and in 2021 created 99 limited edition Dolphin Pendants and donated 100% of proceeds to Oceanswell for their marine conservation projects. He is passionate about his Designer Jewellery, Gems, Watches, Elephants and Wildlife Conservation in Sri Lanka amongst a wide variety of other interests
