About Akshata Dawane

I am a passionate plant molecular biologist currently working as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. My current research focuses on studying virus-host interactions, with an emphasis on how these relationships impact viral replication and translational responses. My previous research focused on the molecular mechanisms underlying translational regulation and the role of ribosomal proteins in shaping the proteome and gene expression. I combine in vitro and in vivo interaction assays, CRISPR-based genome editing, molecular cloning, and protein biochemistry to dissect plant translational machinery and its regulation under environmental and developmental contexts. My work bridges fundamental biology with applied perspectives, contributing to a deeper understanding of how plants adapt at the molecular level. I thrive in collaborative, interdisciplinary environments and bring strong expertise in experimental design, critical analysis, and scientific communication. As I continue advancing in my research career, I am eager to apply my skills to projects at the intersection of translational control, gene regulation, and plant adaptation—whether in academia or innovative biotech settings.
