About Akshay Magdum

Motivated and results-oriented engineering professional with a strong focus on quality improvement and process optimization. I'm currently working as a Quality Engineer at Parker Hannifin's Sporlan Valve Division and hold a Master’s degree in Engineering Management from Missouri University of Science and Technology, Rolla. Parker Hannifin’s Sporlan Valve Division is a global leader in the development and production of HVAC-R components. Our division specializes in the design and manufacture of precision-engineered thermal expansion valves, filter-driers, solenoid valves, pressure regulators, and other key refrigeration and air conditioning components. In my role at Parker, I apply Six Sigma techniques to drive product and process improvement initiatives. My responsibilities include meticulous inspection of both incoming and outgoing materials, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet customer requirements, and maintaining strong customer relations to build confidence in our products. My primary goal is to investigate the root causes of non-conformances, effectively implement corrective actions, and continually improve processes. I am also focusing on developing my ability to manage and complete multiple projects on time. This hands-on experience has sharpened my attention to details and deepened my understanding of quality control methodologies. I am currently pursuing my Six Sigma Green Belt (SSGB) certification and actively working on improving my supervision skills to take on greater responsibilities in quality management. In addition to my work experience, I continuously seek opportunities to expand my knowledge. I have completed courses related to product management, published a review paper on ERP software, and am currently working on improving my Power BI skills. During my time as a Graduate Assistant at Missouri S&T, I supported the course "Economic Analysis of Engineering Projects," further enhancing my academic foundation. Outside of work, I am actively engaged in extracurricular activities and community involvement. As a former member of organizations like CGS and MESA, I have successfully managed various events, showcasing my organizational and leadership skills. Additionally, I have represented my colleges, WCE and JJMCOE, in volleyball and other sports events. Driven by a strong desire to contribute to a management team, I am eager to leverage my industry experience and academic knowledge to make a positive impact.
