About Akshay Shah

Doing the right thing in a better way has always been my true north. At Silafrica, where we manufacture rigid plastic packaging for leading FMCG brands in East Africa, it was always about performance delivery, technology leadership and sustainability. The focus on these three approaches contributed towards building Silafrica into a world-class packaging manufacturing company with a focus on sustainable growth for our employees, customers and communities in Africa and beyond. Today my continued focus on sustainable growth is through bringing new technologies & partnerships into Silafrica & championing the Circular Economy in East Africa. On a personal level, the pursuit of doing the right thing in a better way meant embarking on a lifelong learning journey beyond my corporate role in leading Silafrica and leading strategy at Sumaria Group. This includes volunteering as a Board member at my high school in Tanzania where I met my wife & my kids also studied, being one of the founders of EO Kenya and EO Tanzania (Entrepreneur’s Organisation), joining and eventually leading the YPO Nairobi Chapter (Young Presidents Organization), and supporting entrepreneurial scaleups through my role as an Endeavor Kenya Board member. After spending over half my life leading in different roles & engaging with so many exceptional individuals from all walks of life, two things have not changed. My true north, and my commitment to performance delivery, technology leadership and sustainability (which is now more widely & better understood as Circular Economy).
