Hello! I'm Labrada– an experienced Assistant Chief with 30 plus years’ experience in diverse Law Enforcement positions with the LAPD. Director, Office of Special Operations, currently oversees the Counterterrorism and Special Operations Bureau, as well as the Detective Bureau, and Transit Bureau. As a Veteran of the Persian Gulf War with 6 years’ experience in the US Marine Corps Reserve, I possess strong working knowledge of operational effectiveness with emphasis on command and control, tactical ownership, gang and administrative investigations, multi-union corroboration, and Incident Command System. Successfully led a cooperative and unified effort, partnering with law enforcement agencies and various communities in the implementation of youth diversion programs and increase in the number of community volunteers, impacting the reduction of violent crime. Thinks critically, trains and develop subordinates, delivers police services to residents, and remains committed to community engagement and involvement, while building upon community trust. As the Department Liaison for Latino Communities, Immigration Policies, Gang Reduction, and Youth Development, I take tremendous pride in the partnership I have established with our City’s immigration advocates. I have built strategic relationships which have been valuable during critical incidents involving these communities. I am also currently overseeing planning efforts for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Administratively, I mentored Captains in preparation for UOF Boards and REMAC presentations, ensured critical information and projects are completed to the Bureau and Office of Operations, and provided insight on daily administrative functions.
