About Al Pier

After leaving the Marketing Group (IMC) at Allstate Insurance, to occupy my time and make some extra spending money, I became a part-time school bus driver. Since I still had plenty of free time on my hands, I revisited a manuscript for a children's book I had written long ago called "Ricky and the Grim Wrapper" and proceeded to hire a talented children's book illustrator, then self-publish the book (now available on Amazon.com). Then along came COVID-19. Since the schools in our district closed down on March 13 of this year (2020), I found even more spare time on my hands, and once again, reverted back to a previous life when I had pursued a career in cartooning. Years ago I had done a fair amount of freelance cartoon illustration for several independent corporate accounts, as well as for Robert Brandt Advertising/The Promotion People in Hinsdale, Illinois. So, in returning to one of my true passions, I began drawing again (thanks to the persistent coaxing from my wife, Elizabeth, over the past I-don't-know-how-many-years), and have begun posting my cartoons on my Facebook Page every Tuesday, which I have now dubbed "TOON TOOZDAY".
